Aidan Sparks

Production Design & Technical Arts (2022)

Aidan Sparks’ work in theatre began at Shuswap Theatre, a community theatre in the town of Salmon Arm, British Columbia, located on land long known as Secwepemcúl’ecw. Under the mentorship of Cathy Stubington of Runaway Moon Theatre, he found and developed a passion for outdoor spectacle and marionette theatre. At the Caravan Farm Theatre, he worked in many of areas of production including carpentry, props, scenic painting and mask making. There, he met theatre artists from across the country who opened his eyes to the wider community of Canadian theatre.

In 2019, Aidan began his studies in Production Design and Technical Arts at the National Theatre School of Canada where he tried his hand at lighting, sound, and video design as well as production management and technical direction. He was Stage Manager for the new play There’s nothing you can do by Cole Haley, discovering a hidden passion for the art of stage management. Aidan is drawn, always, to the scenic, to the magic, and to the twinkling kind of stories that live in unlikely places.
